Dr. JP

Dr. Amanda Jean-Pierre (“Dr. JP”) joined the Southeast Texas Regional Day School Program for the Deaf at the start of the 2022–2023 school year. Before joining the team, she served as a clinical audiologist in the Lake Charles area, specializing in diagnostic audiology and aural rehabilitation.

Dr. Jean-Pierre holds audiology licenses in both Texas and Louisiana and maintains her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

As an educational audiologist, Dr. JP is passionate about helping students in every environment, from the classroom to the playground. She loves visiting campuses, collaborating with teachers, and joining students in their daily learning adventures. Whether it’s a classroom science experiment or a field trip, Dr. JP is always eager to jump in, listen, and learn from her students.

Outside of work, Dr. Jean-Pierre enjoys exploring new places with her husband, son, and daughter. A lifelong bookworm, she’s always on the hunt for her next great read—so don’t hesitate to share a recommendation!

 

 

Technology Presentation - Dr JP in the classroom!

 Dr. Jean-Pierre was in Mrs. Powell's classroom for her annual technology presentation! Students learned about different types of assistive technology such as hearing aids, cochlear implants, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), alerting devices, and more. The class also got hands on experience during the presentation, testing out a captioned phone and a vibrating alarm clock!
